Whelp, I've finally started this. I've been talking about doing so for several months now, and just never managed to grow the sack to begin. So welcome to Shoots, Strafes, and Frags!
The inspiration for this came while I was reading one of my favorite web-comics, Player vs Player by Scott Kurtz (www.pvponline.com; awesome comic, highly recommended). I've always enjoyed video games, and I've been reading game reviews in such magazines as Electronic Gaming Monthly and Game Informer for close to a decade. Then it hit me; I would greatly enjoy writing for a gaming magazine! And the seed for SS&F was planted.
I'll be reviewing various video games, mostly for the Microsoft XBox 360. On top of that, most games I review will likely be either from the fantasy RPG genre (IE Fable 3), post apocalyptic shooters (IE Fallout: New Vegas), and sci-fi shooters (IE Halo: Reach). Every now and again, I'll get my hands on something outside my normal area of expertise, and we'll go to town. And sometimes, I'll go even more outside the box, and review something off of a console (IE Ghostbusters Table-top RPG).
The overall goal of SS&F is to get my feet wet in this business. Figure out if I'm any good, see if I can make deadlines, things of that caliber. With a little work, and a fair bit of luck, I'll manage to start getting a little recognition.
Keep your eyes peeled for a review of Fallout: New Vegas. It may take a while, but it'll arrive!
